Internet Matters Research - Children’s Online Safety in 2016 report
The report by Opinion Leader was produced following research commissioned by Internet Matters which took place during the summer of 2016. The research consisted of a nationally representative online survey of 6-16 year olds and a range of qualitative work with parents and children across the country. The report provides a summary of the findings of this research in terms of:
• How parents and children use the internet and what risks parents identify from this• How parents approach helping their children to stay safe from these risks• What help and support parents receive, or would like to receive, in doing this
Particularly it focuses on these questions in relation to
cyberbullying and sexting.
Guardian Saints facilitated a number of interviews to help Internet Matters produce this report and we would particularly refer you to the section
‘Keeping foster children safe’ – starting page 34, which provides real life examples following interviews conducted with Foster Carers.
